How do I create an API key?

1. 1Open Settings → API & MCP.
2. 2Create a key and give it a name (“Claude Desktop”).
3. 3Choose the access: Read only or Read and write, and an expiry.
4. 4Copy the key (it starts with chm_): it will never be shown again.

Treat the key like a password. You can revoke it at any time.
